Arrest was made in haste

To the editor:

A favorite saying of Arthur Godfrey was, “We grow too soon old and too late smart.”

I believe that is what went wrong in T.J. Tyler’s case.

Not enough investigation was done before his arrest. He is a good, hard-working man, and as far as I know has never been in trouble for breaking the law. Now he, his family, friends, and loved ones have been greatly embarrassed due to the testimony of a criminal!

He lost his job with the schools and, to add insult to injury, was the fact that the police went to the school to arrest him. You knew him and where he lived and his arrest could have taken place elsewhere.

We sure hope and pray that the school system will give him his job back.

When you take a man’s freedom away you should be sure he or she has really broken the law. This has been really rough on T.J.’s life and livelihood.

I think the sheriff was too hasty in making an arrest and should know where his information is coming from.

Respectively submitted,
