69 degrees!! I called my Uncle in Flint Michigan, Sunday, and that’s the temp. He said they had to turn the furnace on to get the chill out. Our’s was in the high 90s. What a difference a few miles makes. When I was visiting him last July, the day before I left for home, everyone was wearing flannel shirts, and the day I came home it was 63 degrees. When I lived up there I always thought we had warm summers, but somewhere things changed. I love the hot weather, and when it gets too hot there is always air conditioning and ceiling fans. I tell everybody that I moved here for the hot weather, and I used to think it was warm in the winter, also, until my body temp changed.
In the last two weeks, we lost Barbara Vanderford, and Linda Dotson, my sympathy goes out to both families.
Remember In Prayer
Please pray for Regina Denton, who is seriously ill, and for her family who is going through a really tough time. Pray for Beany Inman, who lost a leg, and Larry Gene Cabiness, who has had a severe stroke. They are all in the hospital.
I believe the fire is out in the landfill across the river. They are still up there working, but I haven’t seen any smoke in quite awhile.
Lockhart Methodist and Wesley Chapel had a cookout Saturday night to welcome their new pastor, Rev. Jimmy Harper. Chuck didn’t mention it to me until we were in Chester at the Cove. He said he forgot about it.
Rev. Donna Eidson has moved to West Columbia and preach at the Methodist Church there.
Poor Man’s Supper
Wesley Chapel’s next poor man’s supper will be on Aug. 5, they will be serving, pinto beans, cabbage, stewed potatoes, cornbread, and tea. Dessert is extra. For entertainment there will be Shon Morris and maybe Angie Roof. Everyone is welcome.
Ailene spent a few days at her daughter’s house, dog sitting, while they went on a trip. They live in Spartanburg. And Brenda and Luke just got back from a trip to the mountains. They all needed to get away after all the hard work getting our budget together. The brains needed a rest.
Charlene and Dennis Broome just got back from Pigeon Forge, they spent their first year anniversary there, and had a great time.
Living In The Past
I admit that I live in the past, but only because housing is so much cheaper.
Happy Birthday on July 3rd to Marvin Ashe, Wayne Allen, on the 7th is Pat Queen, and on the 10th is Mike Massey.
Happy Anniversary on the 7th to Cathy and Jerry Smith, and on the 8th to Danny and Julie Comer.
I’m a dog trainer, so before I met with a new client, I had her fill out a questionnaire.
One question asked, “Why did you choose this breed?”
My client responded, “I often ask myself this same question!”
Before borrowing money from a friend, decide which you need most.
I think we are changing trash pickup companies, so hang in there and have patience with the transaction. When this takes place, Johnson will be picking up their trash cans. Now this new company said he can provide, but things might take time for him to find all of you. We’re doing the best we can for you.
Well, I really didn’t have much news, but I wanted you all to know that I missed you last week. So we’ll see what this week will bring, and see if my water leak in the bath tub gets fixed. That will be my story for next week. And next week I can tell you who fixed it. Well good night and call at 864-545-6652.
