I was very happy that I heard from one of our vendors for the Lockhart Christmas Parade, today. Funnel Cakes by Pam will be setting up in the middle of town. I hope we hear from some of the others that usually come. I also have a promise of a few floats.
I know it seems too early to, but not really. It’s just a couple of weeks away. I’m hoping that some of you, or all of you that are in the Union Parade on Dec. 1 will come and show off your floats in our parade. Three trophies will be handed out: Attractive, Best Theme, and Original.
Ms. Peggy O’Dell will be our Parade Marshal this year. As many of you know she has taught most of the people from Lockhart, at our school. We are honored that she excepted.
The Christmas tree in the old mill parking lot, in the center of town, was finished Tuesday. And the street pole lights should be going up right after Thanksgiving. And I promise there’ll be more put up this year, then last year. Thanks to the Lockhart Fire Department. I want to thank the guys at the Power House for all their help in putting these up for us.
The Power Company is changing transformers in Lockhart, so I got my notice today that Wednesday my neighborhood will be without power for around five or six hours.
I hope it’s not a real cold day. I have a heat pump. I told Gina we will just make our house as hot as we can ahead of time and maybe it will stay warm.
They really are considerate by asking what my days off were at the business. If I lived in a large city they probably wouldn’t care. I think they’re great guys that know their business.
My sympathy goes to Don Fowler’s family for their loss. Don and Rickie always helped up at Jacob’s Well, and will be missed by the community.
Chase Parker came in for a haircut and let me know that his dad (Dusty) and him have gone into business together, Bush Hogging and Mulching. I think they’re going to do some work for Chuck, Marvin and Dave after deer season to clean or clear their wooded area for deer hunting, something like that. They have new equipment for the job, so if you are interested call at 1-864-466-2777 or 1-864-426-2787. Anyway they can clear land for you.
Colling For Thanksgiving
Well Thanksgiving is upon us, I went to Walmart Wednesday and everybody looked like they were getting ready for the feast. Everyone was buying turkeys, etc.
Later Gina and I went to Target and she asked if we were going to shop for Thanksgiving and I said not yet. What am I waiting for?? Maybe it will pass me by. She said we could get a TV dinner, after all they have turkey.
Why do I hate to cook? I spend one day prepping and the next cooking, all day. Ten minutes to eat and one hour cleaning up the mess. And that’s how I spend my day off.
It used to be a fun time with lots of family and friends at the dinner table (25 to be exact). Some from S.C. would come up to Michigan that week, then family that lived there would come over and it was just a great time. Of course I would take the whole week off and just enjoy every minute with them. Now we just eat dinner to stay alive another day.
Maybe the stores will still have something I can buy for dinner next Monday, my next day off.
To And From The Beach
First Baptist Church members just got back from the beach. I haven’t heard from Ailene but I hope they had a great time. Now Wesley Chapel group will be going. I guess they all go down to see the special holiday shows. Hope the weather is nice.
Sitting With A Family Member
Gynetta Brannon, 466-6728, said that if you want someone to sit with a family member she’s available. She’s trying to find something to keep her busy.
Don’t forget to have your trash out early Wednesday morning. Joe Woods picks mine up around 9:30 a.m., I noticed.
While my five-year old son played in his nightly bath, I quizzed him on a new book for “young and inquiring minds” that he had received for Christmas.
“What’s the difference between a caribou and a reindeer?” I asked.
“That’s easy, Mom,” he replied. “Reindeer fly.”
Well, that’s all for now, and call me at 864-545-6652. Good night.
Ooh yes, don’t forget about the memorial angels, if you want them put up this year let us know.
