Well so far I haven’t anyone calling to help with the Christmas Parade. It is hard for me to explain what really is going on.
Also, I just found out that we don’t have anyone to take over the Angel repairing and painting or making new ones, we need someone that is a woodworker. Also, the person that always takes charge of the Christmas lights and ornaments for the poles has had surgery, so as you see there’s a lot of serious thinking I’ve got to do, to see if Lockhart will celebrate Christmas. I’ll keep you posted to what I decide, concerning a few phone calls I need to make and seeing what answers I get.
Well this last weekend was my monthly Sunday off, and Gina enjoyed it very much. I had laryngitis, down to a whisper, and Gina thought it would rest my throat if I just kept my mouth shut. She said it was the best day she had.
It started after I cut grass and weedeated the hill, on Saturday. You know sore throat and sneezing. Sleeping was almost impossible, I was elevated on two pillows almost in a sitting up style, cause if I laid out flat I couldn’t breath. Then a dozen times through the night I had coughing spells, so I got up to get cough drops.
Oh it’s not over yet, the voice is getting better, but if I talk too much I get that tickle in my throat. So I sat outside all day Sunday and Monday in the hot sun trying to soak up vitamin D, hoping that will make me feel better. Nothing else got done, though.
As I told you last week we have a new trash collector, I think it’s Easy Ways, or EZWays, anyway it’s Joe Woods. He will pick up on Wednesday and finish up on Thursday. If you live outside of Lockhart and Johnson’s picked up for you and Joe misses you please call us and let us know, he’s trying to find the route outside of Lockhart.
So I had a very nice visit with my niece, Terry, and sister-in-law JoAnne, but I talked too much and couldn’t stop. We were reminiscing about my first visit down here, all my nieces were so young and I was a novelty. I’m sure they didn’t know one thing I was saying but they were fascinated with my talk (very fast and northern), they even wanted to bring their friends to listen to me. I couldn’t understand them or anyone either. I think JoAnne was happy to go home, that’s how wound up I was today. Too many days of silence.
My nephew gave up his lucrative job to become a writer.
“Have you sold anything yet?” I asked him one day.
“Yes,” he said. “My car and my television.”
My sympathy to the Carter family for the loss of Dane Carter. She really was a sweet lady. When I first started coming here for visits, we stayed with her and Bill. We enjoyed our time together and got really close for many years. She came up to my place in Michigan with her mother and sisters and stayed with me for a week.
There will be a public meeting Tuesday, Oct. 10 to discuss the sewage project, and I think Joe Woods will be there also. It is at noon. There has been a problem with the sewer lines up by the school.
You can tell not much is happening to me, so maybe this next week will be better. I’ll take notes so I don’t forget to tell you anything interesting. Good night and call at 1-854-545-6652.
