Three facing heroin, meth charges

UNION COUNTY — Three Spartanburg men have been arrested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly selling heroin and methamphetamine and for allegedly possessing marijuana plants in their car.

In a statement released Thursday morning, Union County Sheriff David Taylor announced the arrest of the following men on the following charges:

— Charles Jason Lawson, 44, 150 Blackman Circle, Spartanburg, charged with trafficking heroin, distribution of methamphetamines, manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

— Krist Roker, 31, 320 Spruce Street, Lot 5, Spartanburg, charged with trafficking heroin, distribution of methamphetamines, manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

— Jason Randall Jurs, 28, 418 East Woodberry Lane, Spartanburg, charged with trafficking heroin, distribution of methamphetamines, manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana.

Taylor said that on Monday, July 23, narcotics officers with his office received information that an informant had been contacted in an attempt to sell the informant a quantity of drugs. He said the undercover operative arranged with Jurs to purchase heroin and methamphetamine at a location near Cedar Grove Road in Union County

Undercover officers set up surveillance at the location and Taylor said they observed a Chevrolet Tahoe with three individuals inside it arrive at the scene where they met with the undercover operative. Taylor said the operative was able to purchase heroin and methamphetamine from Jurs using recorded government currency.

After the purchase was made, Taylor said the operative left the area and the Tahoe driven by Jurs exited onto Cedar Grove Road. As the Tahoe approached the red light, Taylor said deputies converged on the vehicle and made a traffic stop. He said that all three of the vehicle’s occupants — Jurs, Lawson, and Roker — were placed in handcuffs and detained while the Tahoe was being searched.

During the search, Taylor said officers found two marijuana plants growing in a black pot and that a small bag of marijuana was found beside the driver’s side center console. He said that numerous small plastic bags and scales commonly used in drug trafficking were also found in the car.

Jurs, Lawson, and Roker were transported to the Union County Jail where they remained as of Thursday morning.

Taylor said that the trafficking heroin charge against the three is due to the fact that the amount of heroin purchased was in excess of 4 grams.
