UNION — A Laurens man is charged with criminal sexual conduct in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred over the course of a little over nine months in 2016 and 2017 involving children under the age of 10.
Tremaine Casey Salter, 25, 218 Spring Street #115, Laurens, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal sexual conduct with a minor first degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor third degree.
The incident report states that on Sept. 22, 2017, an officer was dispatched to a local school in reference to an assault that had occurred in the City of Union. When the officer arrived, he spoke with a Department of Social Services worker who said she was speaking with a child who had been sexually assaulted. The report states the DSS worker said she was investigating a domestic incident and was speaking with all the children involved.
The report states the DSS worker said the child told her that she’d been inappropriately touched by Salter.
The three warrants issued for Salter’s arrest states the incidents occurred between Aug. 1, 2016 and May 3, 2017. One incident involved an 8-year-old child while the second incident involved children ages 7 and 4, and the third incident children ages 7 and 9. In the first instance, the warrant states Salter compelled the victim to engage in sexual acts with him. The warrants for the second and third incidents state that Salter compelled the victims to engage in sexual acts with one another.
Union Public Safety Director Sam White said Friday that Salter was originally arrested on March 26, 2018 for criminal sexual conduct. White said the three charges listed in the warrants in Monday’s police report are additional charges filed against Salter bringing to four the number of charges against him. He said that Salter is still in jail.
