ROCK HILL — South Carolina Fifth District Congressman Ralph Norman endorsed gubernatorial hopeful John Warren on Monday, just over a week before voters will head back to the polls to decide who will win the Republican nomination for the office of Governor of South Carolina.

Norman, joined at a press conference by Warren and Rock Hill Senator Wes Climer, who also endorsed Warren Monday, stated that, “John Warren will shake up this system in Columbia.” Norman also stated that he believes Warren’s experiences as a businessman will be beneficial to the state if Warren is elected. Norman went on to say that, “Warren is an outsider, he doesn’t owe anybody anything. He doesn’t come into the governor’s mansion with any debts to pay. He will do what is best for South Carolina.”

Norman stated, “Winston Churchill once said, ‘There are times when doing your best is not good enough, you must do what’s required,’ this man will do what’s required for the State of South Carolina.” He added, “I am proud to endorse John Warren and I think he is going to be a tremendous governor for eight years.”

Norman’s endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements by former candidates Catherine Templeton and Lt. Governor Kevin Bryant on Thursday. Warren has also been endorsed by several other conservative leaders from across the state including: former State Senator Lee Bright, State Representative Dan Hamilton, Greenville County GOP Chair Stephen Brown, and many other conservative grass roots leaders.

Warren said Monday, “conservatives across South Carolina are hearing our message and joining the fight. It’s time that we send someone to Columbia who will put a stop to the corruption. Congressman Norman and Senator Climer are conservative e leaders in our state who know it is time for us to send a conservative outsider to Columbia.”

Norman went on to say that Warren, “fits right into the mold of President Trump: he’s a self-made man who understands business and he’s got establishment politicians running for cover. John Warren will continue the work Nikki Haley started.”

Warren will face off against incumbent Gov. Henry McMaster in the runoff for the Republican nomination for governor on Tuesday, June 26. McMaster received just over 42 percent of votes cast in last Tuesday’s primary, while Warren received just under 28 percent. The third and fourth places finishers in the primary finished with a combined total just over 34 percent of the vote, and both candidates endorsed Warren late last week.

Warren, a former Marine, is new to politics. He is the founder and chairman of Lima One Capital, headquartered in Greenville.
