UNION COUNTY — More than 30 people got a lump of coal in their stockings and a bundle of switches left under their Christmas trees this week when they were arrested/ticketed during an anti-drug sweep by the Union County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.

In a statement released late Tuesday afternoon, Union County Sheriff David Taylor announced that the Union County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division kicked off “Operation Grinch” in the early morning hours of Tuesday morning. Taylor said that 28 people had been arrested/ticketed on a total of 69 separate charges. He said that more arrests were expected as a result of what he said is an ongoing investigation.

An update issued by the Sheriff’s Office this (Wednesday) morning stated that three more individuals had been arrested on a total of eight charges as part of the ongoing operation. This brings to 31 the number of people arrested/ticketed on a total of 77 separate charges since Tuesday morning.
