UNION — The Union Public Safety Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons who shot and wounded a Union man Wednesday afternoon.
The incident report states that shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to a report of shots being fired behind a residence at 620 South Pinckney Street, Union.
When the officer arrived, the report states there were several people shouting that the victim had been shot.
The report states that the officer found the victim lying on his stomach in the backyard of the residence. It states the victim told the officer he had been shot twice in his back and could not move his legs.
When the officer asked the victim who had shot him, the report states the victim said he didn’t know who the shooter was and didn’t see them because he’d been shot in the back.
The report states the officer remained on the scene with the victim until EMS arrived to begin administering medical treatment.
Investigators soon arrived on the scene and the report states the case was then turned over to the Public Safety Department Investigative Division.
Public Safety Director Sam White said Friday that no arrests had been made in the case and that the investigation is continuing. White asked that that if anyone has any information about the shooting, especially regarding the identity of the person or persons involved in the shooting, to please report it.
