UNION COUNTY — The Union County School District has a new Athletic Fields and Grounds Supervisor.
Meeting in special session Monday afternoon, the Union County Board of School Trustees voted unanimously to approve a recommendation by District Personnel Director Jeff Stribble that Travis Keever be appointed Athletic Fields and Grounds Supervisor for the district.
The board’s unanimous decision comes just one week after it deadlocked over a personnel report presented during a special meeting on Monday, Feb. 13.
At that time the board voted 4-4 on the personnel report presented during that meeting. The 4-4 tie meant that the report was not approved.
Voting no were trustees Frank M. Hart, Manning Jeter, BJ McMorris, and Mark Ivey.
Voting yes were trustees Gene “Doc” Lipsey, Mike Massey, Wanda All, and Jane Hammett.
Absent from the Monday, Feb. 13 meeting was trustee Jane Wilkes.
Following their vote, the board asked for more information about the recommendation in the report before its next meeting.
At Monday’s meeting, the trustees — all of whom were present — went into a brief executive session. When they came back into open session the board voted to approve Stribble’s personnel report which included the recommendation that Keever be appointed Athletic Fields and Grounds Supervisor.
Both special meetings were held at the Union County School District Office.
The Union County Board of School Trustees will meet in regular session on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Sims Middle School.
