UNION COUNTY — The basketball season came to end for the Lady Jackets with a 95-25 loss to North Augusta.
Coach Imani Richard said that in the first half of the first quarter of Tuesday’s game, the Lady Jackets took the lead 9-4, but that in the second half of that quarter North Augusta went on a run to gain, hold and increase their lead through the rest of the game.
Tuesday’s game was the start of the playoffs but their defeat means that the Lady Jackets are done for the season.
For the season the Lady Jackets were 15-9 and Richard said that she was proud of the team for how they came together as the season went on.
“The whole team came together and jelled toward the end of the season,” Richard said. “The loss against North Augusta looks bad, but it doesn’t reflect what my team accomplished.”
Richard said that the standout player for the season was Brooke Smith who, in a game against Blue Ridge, broke the UCHS record for the most 3-pointers with 10 in that game.
