JONESVILLE — The Jonesville Wildcats middle school football team fell short to EP Todd this week in a final score of 38-6.
EP Todd took an 8-0 lead on their opening drive. Jonesville later made an interception, but the Wildcats were unable to score, and EP Todd scored again, making the score 14-0.
Jonesville fought back, with Grant Butler scoring on a 10-yard touchdown pass, which was set up by runs from Jabryson Hunter and a 30-yard pass to KJ McCluney.
EP Todd then scored again, keeping Jonesville from scoring for the remainder of the game. Jonesville’s Coach Jay Voiselle said EP Todd capitalized on key special teams miscues and mental errors from his team.
With their win over Jonesville, EP Todd won the division for the second year in a row, putting Jonesville in second place.
“We faced a lot of adversity this week,” Voiselle said on Thursday. “We had some young guys playing positions they haven’t played before, and I’m very proud of them stepping up for their team. We learned a lot today.”
Jonesville (4-3) will go on the road for their final game of the season to face Whitmire at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
