Ferguson-Glenn running for reelection

CARLISLE — Town of Carlisle Mayor Mary Ferguson-Glenn says she is running for reelection.

In a statement released Tuesday morning, Ferguson-Glenn, who was first elected mayor of Carlisle in 2008, announced that she will will seek a third term.

“Today I announce my candidacy for Mayor of Carlisle,” Ferguson-Glenn said. “I am once again asking the citizens of our fair town to support my re-election. As Mayor it has been both an honor and a pleasure to serve the people of Carlisle. Together we have made great strides in creating a better community and there is so much more we can accomplish.”

In announcing her reelection bid, Ferguson-Glenn reviewed the accomplishments of the past eight years.

“Carlisle is moving in the right direction,” Ferguson-Glenn said. “Our joint efforts with organizations throughout Union County have established several new social and service programs. We have also completed a number of grant sponsored programs and more are on the horizon. As the economy continues to improve we can move forward with larger efforts to create a better Carlisle.

“I am so proud that we have accomplished so much with a balanced budget and no increases to taxes or fees,” she said. “The town of Carlisle remains debt free while growing bigger and better.”

Ferguson-Glenn said that if reelected she work to build on the successes of the past to help Carlisle realize its full potential for the benefit of both present and future generations.

“There is still work to be done to realize the full potential of our wonderful community,” Ferguson-Glenn said. “Carlisle is steeped in tradition and full of opportunities. I want to see it grow for our citizens today and our future generations.

“The people of Carlisle entrusted me with the welfare of our community and we have made amazing strides,” she said. “I would very much like to the finish the work we have started. I look forward to serving Carlisle once again as Mayor.”

Ferguson-Glenn is one of two candidates running for Mayor of the Town of Carlisle. She is being challenged by Carlisle Town Council Woman and former mayor Ann Stevens.

The Town of Carlisle will hold its municipal elections on Nov. 8.
