UNION COUNTY — The Union County First Steps Board of Directors has hired Laura Wade as Executive Director, replacing Catherine Childers, who resigned from the position in June.

Mrs. Wade most recently has worked as an Early Steps Coordinator with Union County First Steps.

Mrs. Connie Springs, chair of the Board of Directors, stated, “the search committee carefully considered each candidate for this position. We ultimately selected Laura because we feel her knowledge and expertise of the First Steps organization, especially with the home visitation program. We are thrilled to welcome her to Union County First Steps — an organization that we all feel is vitally important to this community.”

Mrs. Wade will officially begin her employment with Union County First Steps on Aug. 10.

Mrs. Wade graduated from Summerville High School, and received a BS in Psychology from Charleston Southern University. She is a member of Life Spring Church in Union. She and her husband, Rick, are parents to three grown daughters — Erin, Shannon, and Kaitlyn.
