UNION — The February meeting of the Union Music Club took place on Tuesday, February 9 at 7 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church. President Tommy Bishop welcomed everyone in attendance. He also thanked the hostesses, Mrs. Sam Elliot and Mrs. Steve Ramsey, for the delicious refreshments.

February Song

First, the members recited the Invocation and the Federation Collect. Then the Federation Hymn was sung as President Bishop accompanied on the church organ. The Federation song of the month entitled “The Liberty Song” was sung accompanied by Mrs. Sam Elliot on piano, and then President Bishop read the song’s history.

Secretary Sally Summers read the minutes from the January 2016 meeting, and they were approved. Treasurer Rev. Sanders Read presented the treasury report, and it was approved.

President Bishop asked for any committee reports. The Scholarship Committee asked that the Cornelia Greer Walker scholarship be given only to a student who plans to major in music. This will allow the club to give more money to the scholarship recipients. The Scholarship Committee would also like to have all applications in by March 1. The motion was made and seconded to approve this recommendation.

Regional Meeting

The members were reminded that the SCFMC Western Regional meeting will be held at Central United Methodist Church on Feb. 27. At the March 8 meeting, students of the following members will be performing: Mrs. Johnny Turner, Mrs. Sam Elliott, Mrs. Steve Ramsey, and Miss Suzy Smith.
