UNION COUNTY — After five years in office Union County School District Superintendent Dr. Kristi Woodall will resign at the end of the year.
Woodall’s resignation was announced by Union County Board of School Trustees Chairman Jane Hamett during Monday’s school board meeting
Hammett followed up Monday’s announcement this morning by issuing the following statement to the district’s staff.
“As many of you may already have heard, at last night’s board meeting, the board announced that Dr. Kristi Woodall is leaving the district, effective at the conclusion of the calendar year. Dr. Woodall, who began her tenure as Superintendent in 2010, is leaving the district to pursue other opportunities.”
Hammett also discussed the board’s plans to fill the position, first on an interim basis, and what it will do should an interim successor not be found by the time Woodall leaves office.
“The board has begun searching for an Interim Superintendent to serve for at least the remainder of the 2015-16 school year and hopes to name that person soon after the start of the New Year. The board will then discuss how and when it will begin the search for a permanent replacement for Dr. Woodall.
“In the event that the Board has not found an Interim Superintendent by the time that school resumes in January 2016, Lynn Lawson will serve as Acting Superintendent.”
Lawson is the district’s Chief Financial Officer.
Hammett concluded by wishing Woodall well and wishing Merry Christmas to the district staff.
“The board wishes Dr. Woodall much success and happiness in her future endeavors. On behalf of the board, I hope that you and your families have a Merry Christmas and a restful and safe winter break.”
Attempts by The Union Daily Times to reach Woodall for comment this morning were unsuccessful.
