WHITMIRE — Five Whitmire High School football players were recognized as part of the 2015 Newberry Touchdown Club All-County and Academic All-County Teams.
The five Whitmire football players — all seniors — who were recognized for their efforts this season included Alex Ellison, West Jenkins, Austin Jenkins, Brad Burleson and Darian Gilliam.
Alex Ellison (No. 7) is a senior defensive end/fullback and a team captain. Ellison was nominated for Newberry Touchdown Club “Player of the Year” consideration by the Whitmire coaching staff, and he is a three-time All-Region and All-County selection.
