UNION — The Sims Middle School Lady Tigers Volleyball Team lost to McCracken Middle and Gaffney Middle in games played on Tuesday, September 8, and Wednesday, September 9, respectively.
Sims Volleyball Coach Tracy Duncan said that the Lady Tigers lost to McCracken Middle 3 games to 2.
”We lost the first two games, came back and won the second two, which made us play the tie breaker, which we lost an intense match 15-13,” Duncan said. “We were nervous to begin with, but got a little warmed up, but made lots of mental mistakes, and didn’t move. Calling balls caused some problems, too.”
A day later, the Lady Tigers faced Gaffney and also came up short, losing 3-0
“The first game was 26-24, the second game was 25-1 and the third was 25-4,” Duncan said. “Kara Pruitt served really well today and yesterday. We were trailing at one point by five or more, then we came back them with Lillian Turner’s great serves that gave us points and we tied up. We then lost on a side out 26-24.
“Game Two we had a player to be injured, and that threw us off, we were making mental mistakes, and not passing or going to balls at all,” she said. “In Games Two and Three most everyone got to play, and all tried and put forth effort. Some crucial serves from Gaffney hurt us, with not passing the ball well.”
Duncan said that the Lady Tigers would face Carver/E.P. Todd in a home game on Monday, Sept. 14 with games beginning at 5 p.m.
“We hope to get the win Monday with Carver/E.P. Todd,” Duncan said.
