UNION COUNTY — An automobile collision in which a car ran off the road and struck a tree resulted in the death of three local residents.
The Union County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a single motor vehicle collision that occurred around 1:43 a.m. Thursday on South Carolina Hwy. 9, near Black Bottom Road in Adamsburg (Union County).
The collision resulted in the death of three Union County residents.
The driver — Michael Lee Crocker, 35, of 210 Long Twelve, Union — and a passenger — Jonathan Daniel Griffin, 27, of 1418 Peach Orchard Road, Lot 25, Union, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The other passenger, Paul Nicholas Davis, 34, of 171 Martin Road, Union, was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center by Union County EMS where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The SCHP reported that the three men were occupants of a late model Chevrolet Camaro traveling east on Hwy. 9 when it left the roadway and struck a tree, causing the fatal collision. Crocker and Griffin were found in the car, and Davis was ejected. It was also reported that none of the three men were wearing seatbelts.
