UNION COUNTY — Seats on the Union County Board of School Trustees, Union City Council, Carlisle Town Council and other non-partisan governing bodies in Union County will be on the ballot in the November general election.

Non-partisan offices are those where the candidates do not run as the nominee of a particular political party, but simply as individuals.

In Union County, non-partisan offices include the seats on the Union County Board of School Trustees, the seats on the councils and the mayor’s offices of the county’s four incorporated municipalities (Union, Jonesville, Carlisle, and Lockhart), and the seats on the boards of the county’s fire districts and various other special districts.

This year, seats on the school board, the councils of Union and Carlisle, and the boards of four fire districts and one local watershed will be on the November ballot.

Filing for the school board, fire district, and watershed seats opened this past Monday (July 16) at noon and will close at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Candidates seeking to run for the school board, fire district, and watershed seats must file to do so at the Union County Voter Registrar’s Office which is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
