Read 1 Kings 19:1-14
Elijah said, “The Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down you altars, and killed you prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.”
— 1 Kings 19:10 (NRSV)
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for reminding us that even in our weakness, you are willing and able to work through us. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God already knows my weakness — loves me anyway.
Charles Warner | The Union Times Now is always a good time to realize how much the people, especially family and friends, in your life mean to you and how much they have enriched and blessed your life. All too often, we don’t realize how much someone means to us until they are no longer a part of our lives. That’s sad, because people who love us and who we love are precious gifts to us made more precious by the fact that the time we have in this world together is short and when that time is up there is no way to rewind the clock. That’s why now, this day, and every day going forward we should spend as much time as we can with those we love and who love us, let them know what they mean to us, and give thanks to God for placing them in our lives and us in theirs. Never take for granted the people in your life and never take for granted God for giving you your life and them their lives and bringing us together with one another.
