JONESVILLE — A local church needs to raise another $1,900 in order to send the children in its Kids Ministry to a summer camp where they will enjoy fun activities while also learning more about God and strengthening their relationship with Him.
On Saturday, June 23, Jonesville Baptist Church held a yard and bake sale in its CLC Building to help raise funds to enable the children in their Kids Ministry to go to a Christian summer camp in August.
“We’re raising money for the Kids Ministry to go to summer camp at Look Up Lodge in Travelers Rest, North Carolina,” Children’s Director Lauren Pannell said Monday.
To help do that, the church held the yard and bake sale, which Pannell said offered “a little of everything” including clothes, electronics, furniture, appliances, and holiday decor. She said the children in the ministry helped with the bake sale and even had a lemonade stand.
Pannell said the yard and bake sale raised slightly less than $600, just under a quarter of the $2,500 needed to pay for the 11 children in the ministry and the adults that will be accompnaying them to go to Look Up Lodge for three nights beginning Tuesday, Aug. 7.
While the summer camp will involve fun activities for the childfren to participate in, there will also be a serious spiritual purpose as well.
“There’ll be swimming, games, team building activities, and other fun things to do,” Pannell said. “They will also be learning more about God and deepening their relationship with Him.”
Another $1,900 is needed for the church to reach its goal of raising $2,500 for the trip and Pannell said anyone interested in making a donation should send a check to Jonesville Baptist Church, 301 Church Street, Jonesville, SC 29353 and note that it is for the Look Up Lodge trip.
