Prayer for Saturday

Read John 16:32-33

The Lord said, “If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river.”

— Isaiah 48:18 (NIV)

PRAYER: Dear God, thank you for the peace only you can give. Help us to focus beyond life’s distractions to see you. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: How will I “listen to the river” of God’s peace today?

Charles Warner | The Union Times Blood is powerful because without it there is no life. Our blood is made up of red blood cells that circulate oxygen throughout the body, white blood cells that fight infection, and platelets that clot cuts reduce and stop blood loss. Blood is literally life and that’s true not only in our physical life but our spiritual one as well. While the blood that flows through our veins keeps us alive, the blood that first flowed at Calvary is what saves our souls. That blood, the blood of Christ, paid our sin debt, a debt we could never pay on our own. It can, if we let it, wash away our sins and give us a new start on life and enable us to spend eternity with Christ. So yes, there is power in the blood, especially in the blood of Christ which washes away our sins and saves us from the eternal consequences of our sinful, fallen nature.
