Hancock Memorial Scholarship awarded

Two Piedmont Technical College students were awarded the Gwen and Gene Hancock Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. GREENWOOD — A Whitmire resident is one of two Piedmont Technical College students to receive the Gwen and Gene Hancock Memorial Scholarship.

Caroline Nicole McMurray, a respiratory care student from Whitmire, and Alexis Boggs, a respiratory care student from Greenwood, were recently presented with the Gwen and Gene Hancock Memorial Scholarship during PTC’s annual scholarship luncheon.

The Gwen and Gene Hancock Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to respiratory care majors based on academic achievement, leadership ability, and financial need.

Gene Hancock was a graduate of PTC’s first evening program and was also the college’s first alumni association president.
