Prayer for Wednesday

Charles Warner | The Union Times God keeps His promises is a simple statement of fact. He promised Abraham that He would make him the father of a great nation and that’s exactly what happened. He promised Moses that He would help him lead the Children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt and back into the Land of Israel, the land He promised all the patriarchs of the Old Testament would be the land of their people. That’s exactly what happened and that’s why the State of Israel exists today, because God keeps His promises. An even greater example of God keeping His promises is that He promised to send a Messiah who would deliver those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior from the bondage of sin. He kept His promise when He sent His Son Jesus to serve as that Messiah, as that Living Sacrifice for our sins. He, again through His Son Jesus, promised that He would never leave nor forsake those who put their trust in Him and, again, He has kept His word send His Holy Spirit to guide and comfort His children. He has also promised, again through His Son Jesus, that He will return to carry out His final judgment upon the human race. He will keep that promise, too.

Read John 6:25-35

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

— John 6:35 (NRSV)

PRAYER: Dear Lord, make us aware of those around us who need to know Christ. May the joy we find in following you bring light to someone else today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: With whom may I share Christ’s life-giving bread today?
