UNION COUNTY — Christmas Day is now less than two weeks away and that means Santa Claus is getting closer to being finished compiling his list gifts he’ll be delivering Christmas Eve and that means the children of Union County needs to send in their “Letters to Santa.”

Since The Union Times was first published in 1850 our most loyal reader has been Santa Claus who loves to stay caught up on what’s happening in Union County. While he reads every edition throughout the year, Santa’s favorite edition of The Union Times is the Letters to Santa edition we publish right before Christmas. He likes it because our Letters to Santa edition is the best way for him to find out what the children of Union County want him to place under their Christmas trees and in their Christmas stockings when he visits their home on Christmas Eve.

Counting today, however, there are just 13 days left before Chrismas Day, which means time is running out for Santa to get those letters. That’s why The Union Times needs you to send your letters to Santa in by this Friday (December 15) so that they can be included in our “Letters to Santa” edition which will be published on Wednesday, December 20. That will give Santa plenty of time for Santa to read all those Christmas wishes, add them to his list, and then turn them over to the elves who are now working overtime to turn children’s wishes into toys and other presents for Santa to deliver.

Then, on Christmas Eve, the elves, their work done for another year, will load all those toys and presents onto Santa’s sleigh while he hitches up the reindeer — Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and, if the weather’s really bad, Rudolph — that will pull his sleigh. Then, with all those toys and presents loaded and the reindeer ready, Santa will get in the sleigh and with a loud “Ho-Ho-Ho, Merry Christmas” take off into the night sky to deliver presents to the good little girls and boys of the world including those in Union County.

So to make sure that your Christmas wishes are in Santa’s sleigh Christmas Eve, send your letters to The Union Times by this Friday for inclusion in the “Letters to Santa” edition next Wednesday.

“Letters to Santa” is open to children ages birth-4th grade and those letters may be submitted by email, either individually or through their classes at school, to [email protected]

Counting Christmas Day itself, the Christmas season still has 14 days to go, but it will be here before you know it, so please get those letters written and sent in to The Union Times because Santa is waiting to read them.
