UNION COUNTY — Thursday is Thanksgiving Day which means it will be a day of tradition including families gathered around the table to enjoy a delicious meal featuring such tasty fare as turkey and pumpkin pie and sports fans gathered around the TV to watch football games.
Another tradition of Thanksgiving is that banks, schools, and most government offices and agencies will be closed, some for just the day, others for rest of the week.
Arthur State Bank, Park Sterling Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank will all be closed Thursday, but will reopen on their regular schedules on Friday.
Starting today (Wednesday) the district office and the schools of the Union County School District are closed and will not reopen until Monday.
At USC Union, classes are out for the remainder of the week, but administrative staff is working today. After today, however, the campus will be closed Thursday and Friday.
The Union County Courthouse, the City of Union Municipal Building, the Jonesville Municipal Complex, and Carlisle Town Hall, and the Lockhart Town Hall will all be closed Thursday and Friday.
The United States Post Offices in Union, Jonesville, Carlisle, Lockhart, and Buffalo will be closed Thursday but will reopen on Friday on their regular schedules.
The Union County Carnegie Library will be closed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday.
