UNION — A Yellow Jacket has been named Fox Sports Spartanburg Player of the Week in honor of his performance on the football field in Union County High School’s game against Blue Ridge on Oct. 13.
The Fox Spartanburg Player of the Week is awarded each week during football season by Fox Sorts 1400 AM 98.3 FM in Spartanburg. It is presented to a player who had a standout game on the field the previous Friday. The players honored are selected each week by a vote of the employees of the station.
For Week 8 of this 2017 season, the Fox Sports employees chose Union County High School Football Team member Keion Glover.
A press release issued by the station announcing the award states that “Glover is the first primarily defensive player to win the award this year, and he did so in his very first start on the defensive side of the ball. Glover is also the first recipient of the award, this year, outside of Spartanburg County.”
It states that in the Yellow Jackets’ victory over Blue Ridge on Friday, Oct. 13, Glover had two interceptions, two touchdowns, and a fumble recovery.
