

UNION COUNTY — The first half of 2017 ended on a high note for local racer Earl Petty who racked up his fifth win of the year at the end of July.
Petty, 20, the son of Mike and Kim Petty, was the featured winner in the Renegade Division at Cherokee Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 29.
Saturday’s win was the fifth in a series of victories for Petty that began April 29 when he scored his first victory of the season in the Renegade Division at Cherokee Motor Speedway.
Petty’s No. 5 Monte Carlo car is sponsored by Broad River Materials, Inc., The Tire Shop of Jonesville, Bailey’s Grill in Lockhart, Carter’s Auto Sales, Denton Gas Company, Inc., Mitchell Graphics, Mulls Starter and Alternator and Upstate Auto Auction in Spartanburg.
