A Caregiver Support Group at Heartland Health Care Center — Union will meet every third Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m in the Assisted Living Unit.
This group is open to anyone providing care for a person with health issues or age-related illness. At our caregiver meetings you will meet others in your same situation and learn new ideas to overcome challenges or find answers to questions you may have.
Refreshments will be provided.

Open House, Job Fair
Heartland Health Care Center — Union will hold an Open House and Job Fair in the Assisted Living Unit on Tuesday, June 27 from 4-7 p.m.
Beekeepers To Meet
The Union County Beekeepers will meet on Tuesday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Piedmont Physic Garden on South Street in Union.
Light refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and program begins at 6:30 p.m.
Michael Cope, a Clemson graduate student, has been rescheduled to our October meeting. We will have a garden overview and tour by the current interns at the garden.
Everyone interested in bees is encouraged to attend.
4-H Summer Camps
Clemson University Cooperative Extension 4-H is offering the following summer camps beginning in June.
4-H Crochet Summer Workshop Series
June 6 & 20, July 11 & 18, and August 1
Ages 9 and over
This is a series of workshops for the 4-H’er who has already accomplished the basic crochet stitches — chain and single crochet. We will meet twice a month in June and July, and once in August. 4-H’ers will work on a lap throw and other crochet projects. Here’s an opportunity to advance your crochet skills and make a very pretty throw
Ages 7 and over
There are tons of easy ways to get your children thinking about the environment. One way is to make recycled crafts! This camp will get your children creative with things you already have on hand to construct recycled crafts. It will also teach them the importance of using items and recycling items to keep our environment clean and safe.
Sow And Grow Daycamp
Ages 7 and over
Do you have a green thumb? In this daycamp you will learn how to plant a garden, and actually help plant a raised bed garden on the fairgrounds. You will also learn how to make your garden grow, which bugs are good and bad for your garden, and when to harvest your vegetables. On the second day, Mrs. Jannie will join us to lead you in making some delicious recipes using fresh from the garden vegetables!
4-H Camp Wild
Let’s go camping! Join youth from Union, Chester, York, Fairfield, Newberry and Lancaster counties in a real 4-H camping experience at Chester State Park. This overnight camping program will include wildlife, natural resources, science, water activities, shooting sports, and lots of hands-on 4-H activities. Camp will begin at 10 a.m. on June 27, and end at 6 p.m. on June 28. WILDathon will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a dinner for campers and their immediate family. Parents provide transportation.
4-H Club Summer Camp
Where: Camp Long in Aiken, SC
Camp Cooper, Summerton, SC
Registration: $275 ($75 deposit upon registration — Balance Due by May 30.)
This is 4-H Summer Camp at its best — overnight camping at Camp Long in Aiken, SC, or Camp Cooper in Summerton, SC. There will be all the traditional camp activities, like swimming, canoeing, fishing, team sports, climbing wall, zip line, hiking, crafts, and so much more. Make friends and memories that will last a lifetime! Parents provide transportation.

A tornado has left your home without power, or you are walking in the woods and suddenly you can’t remember which way to get home…EMERGENCIES happen every day…how do you survive?? Come to this daycamp and learn basic survival skills, from making shelter, finding food and water, and staying safe until help arrives.
4-H Camp Cloverbud
Ages 5 to 7
This is a 4-H camp just for the little folks to introduce them to the treasures of 4-H. This year our Cloverbuds will get up close and personal with bugs, butterflies, and creepy crawlers in their own backyard. Camp will include science, natural resources and plenty of hands-on 4-H activities. Your Cloverbud will not want to miss a day of this fun camp.

Sims High School Class Reunion
The Sims High School Classes of 1960, 1961, and 1962 will meet Saturday, June 3 at 3 p.m.
The meeting will be held at Virginia’s Restaurant, 501 South Church Street, Union.

UCHS Summer Drama Camp
The Union County High School Drama Department will hold its annual Drama Camp June 12 through June 16, from 9 a.m. until noon each day.
Open to students ages 6 through 12, students will participate in theatre games, creative dramatics activities, and present a short play for parents and guests on Friday, June 16, on the stage at Union County High School.
The camp is taught by UCHS Drama Teacher Ralph Lawson. Assistants are Caroline Gallman, Madyson Russell, Claire Pridemore, and Kinsleigh Spencer.
Parents can register their children at the main office at Union County High School; the registration deadline is Thursday, June 8. The fee is $50 per child. Proceeds go to the UCHS Drama Program.

Clemson Extension FCL (Family and Community Leaders) have formed a Crochet Club that will meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m.-noon.
This club is open to anyone from the beginner to very experienced. There will be an instructor on site at least once a month. Other experienced crochet workers will be available to help at other times.

Head Start Accepting Applications
Carolina Community Actions, Inc., Head Start is now accepting applications for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2017-2018 program year.
Head Start serves children from low-income families and children with disabilities. Children with disabilities, including emotional, intellectual and physical (visual, hearing, speech, crippling and other chronic impairments), are eligible regardless of their family income level. Services provided by Head Start include education, nutrition, medical, dental, social services, transportation, parent involvement, and special education services.
We are also now accepting applications for Infants and Toddlers birth to 3 years of age and pregnant mothers for the 2017-2018 program year. Early Head Start Programs begin serving children before they are born by offering services to their pregnant moms. The purpose of this is to ensure that the pregnant woman remains healthy throughout her pregnancy.
CCA Early Head Start/Head Start participates in the USDA Child Care Food Program and breakfast and lunch are served to the Head Start children and formula, breakfast, and lunch are served to the Early Head Start children at no cost to the families. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
A legal birth certificate, certificate of immunization, proof of income for the 2016 calendar year, and social security numbers of all persons in household must be provided when you apply.

The Union Civitans Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1-2 p.m. at the Inn at Merridun. Lunch is served.
Friday nights from 7-9 p.m. is Gospel Night at Gene’s Music Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Performing will be Gene’s Gospel Hour Band and Middle Cross Gospel Band.
There is no charge but a Love Offering will be collected.
Country Dance Night
Every Saturday night will be Country Dance Night from 7-10:30 p.m. at Gene’s Music Hall. Door’s open at 6 p.m.
Union Express Band will perform and there will be a 1/2 to 1/2 drawing and door prize drawing.
There is an $8 cover charge.
The first Saturday night there are 75 paying guests the door prize will be $100 cash.
