BUFFALO — Mr. Homer Walker Babb, 76, husband of Janice Mitchell Babb, 117 Duncan Avenue, Buffalo, SC passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Babb was born in Buffalo, SC, Dec. 15, 1935, a son of the late James Herbert Babb, Sr. and Lillie Mae Varner Babb. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mills after 40 years of service. Mr. Babb retired as a Reserve Deputy with the Union County Sheriff’s Department, served as Chief with the Buffalo Fire Department, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #256 in Buffalo and a Shriner. He was also a member of the Redman Tribe #40 and a member of the York Rites and Scottish Rites.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years are a daughter, Cindy Babb Moore and husband Dennis of Columbia; a sister, Kathy Babb Stokes; two brothers: James Carl Babb and wife Lynn and Harold Eugene Babb; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Fennell Babb; a brother-in-law, Robert Glenn Sparks, all of Union; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Babb was predeceased by a son, David Walker Babb; and a brother, Ralph Edward Babb.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May26, 2012 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey.

Visitation will be held at the home of his sister, Kathy B. Stokes, 741 Hawkins Road, Union following the service.

The family is at the home, 117 Duncan Avenue, Buffalo.
