SPARTANBURG — Trey Bevis hurled a one-hitter and helped himself at the plate to lead Sims to a 10-1 win over the Spartanburg C-Team on Tuesday.

Bevis struck out seven, allowed no earned runs and walked four batters before being replaced on the hill by Bryan Good who tossed an inning of relief.

The Tigers made the pitching exchange in the bottom of the fifth with two runners on and Good went quickly to work, recording three outs on just six pitches.

Sims touched up Spartanburg’s pitching staff for 10 hits including three extra-base hits.

In the top of the first, with two outs, Sims rallied for two runs. Travis Wages singled to right field and scored on Bevis’ single to center. Tyreze Jeter lined an RBI double to center field to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead.

Sims added two in the second inning on a Theodore Walker 2-RBI double and plated four in the fourth inning off three walks, a single and a couple of Spartanburg fielding errors.

Bevis, Jeter and Chase Davis contributed hits in the fifth to give Sims a 9-0 lead. Spartanburg used a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the inning to score its lone run for the 10-1 final.
