This past year, Lockhart Power Company, a subsidiary of Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, celebrated its 100th anniversary. The company used this opportunity to honor and celebrate the communities it serves. They sponsored our Greater Pacolet Indian Summer Festival with a generous donation along with other local events and festivals throughout their service area.

In addition, Lockhart Power planted 100 trees to signify their 100 years of operation. We, in the Pacolet community, were honored to receive 29 trees. The most significant were the three trees planted at Marysville School. This African-American school is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. It is a one of a kind school built by the textile industry that is still standing in South Carolina.

Mr. Roger Milliken loved most all trees, but the Princeton American Elm, Ginkgo, and Red Rage Tupelo were three of his favorites. As Lockhart Power Company is honoring 100 years of service to community, it is also important for us to remember the leaders who helped build communities like ours.

We are grateful to companies like Lockhart Power and Pacolet Milliken and their mission to give back to communities. They have been essential partners in the Town of Pacolet’s revitalization process. As the citizens of Pacolet look forward to many years of continued cooperation and support, we offer our best wishes for another 100 years to a company who seeks to improve communities and provide green energy.
