JONESVILLE — Mr. Julian ‘Doodle Bug’ Roberts, 81, husband of Peggy Johnson Roberts, 707 Bobby Faucette Rd., Jonesville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Roberts was born in Cherokee Co., S.C. on April 18, 1931, a son of the late James Edward and Ada Maude “Sanders” Roberts. He was of the Baptist Faith and was retired painter with Chris & Parsons Construction Company. Mr. Roberts also served in the S.C. National Guard.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Katrina Moulder and husband Jerry of Fountain Inn, S.C.; two sons, Frank Roberts and wife Debbie of Jonesville and Larry E. Roberts and wife Aileen of Union; one sister, Polly Ann Alexander and husband Johnny of Jonesville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dr. Marvin Haver of Spartanburg.
Mr. Roberts was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Roberts Brannon; five brothers, James H. Roberts, Rubin Roberts, David Baldwin, Roy Baldwin, and Willie Baldwin; and five sisters, Betty Boulware, Juanita Wilkins, Maude Gault, Pearl Lipsey, and Margaret McCoy.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Burgess.
Mr. Roberts’ grandchildren will serve as active pallbearers.
Shirley Faucette, Kim Roark, Chunk Adams, Harmony Care Hospice, and Dr. Miller are asked to form the honorary escort.
Visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the services at the church.
