First off, I want to apologize for not being in the paper last Friday, but if you read Tuesday’s paper you found me. I was lost in space. But was found. Computers have a mind of their own, and especially with a person like me, computer illiterate.

I’m hoping Santa will bring fast speed, or whatever it’s called for this thing. I have dial up and I get so impatient waiting for my mail to come up that I delete it, I can’t stand to wait for attachments. I’m glad I’m a hairdresser instead of an office worker. But writing has been good therapy for me, and a challenge.

What I’m Thankful For

I had a great idea today, and didn’t follow through. I made out a sheet of paper with the headline “What I’m Thankful For.” I was going to ask each of my customers this question. But failed. Everyone was in such a good talkative mood, that it kind of went out the window. But I know what some would have said.

Destiny was so excited to show me her baby’s sonogram, doing healthy with thumb in her mouth, Daniel and she are due in March. Maddy’s thankful for the Wal Mart wish book, so she can tell Santa the hundreds of things in it she wants. Ronnie’s thankful for Barbara who tries to keep everyone straight, and I even have to call on her for help every now and then. Be thankful for our post office and keep it opened so we don’t have to run to Union for all our business.

I’m thankful for Lockhart. Without it I would be entirely alone, they have helped me survive all these years. Without these kind people here, I would have been in the dark and hungry. I have raised two children with the help of my customers.

It was a struggle in the beginning when I was left here, not knowing anybody and trusting everyone. But as the years went on and I knew this was what God wanted for me, things started fitting into place. Things happen for a reason, and lessons should be learned from it all. And be thankful for each new day.

Angel Memorial Display

I was given this reminder tonight: It’s time to put up our Angel Memorial Display on the wall at the old Lockhart Mill. It’s a wonderful way to remember our loved ones, especially during the Christmas Season.

A new Angel is $20 for the first year and $10 for the years after. All proceeds from the Angel Memorials help pay for the beautiful lights that adorn our town during the holidays.

For more information call Lockhart Town Hall at 1-864-545-2103 or Lori Brannon at 1-864-545-2112.

Cruise

The week of Nov. 16, Michael and Amber Clayton took their children on a cruise to Aruba to help celebrate their 10th anniversary, coming up on Nov. 27.

Finding Kosovo

I forgot to tell Russ that Deanna and I checked on the map and found Kosovo. It was in the wrong place. We thought it would have been up a little higher and closer to Germany. But we know where you are now.

Medical News

I.G. Vanderford came through his triple by-pass with flying colors. We heard he was doing real good.

Lori said she got her mother (Cora) home from the hospital, this morning (Tuesday).

Elaine Youngblood is at Kim’s after a stay in the hospital.

Edna Black is in Wallace Thomson, but is residing in Woodruff Nursing Home now. Sally went to see her and said she seemed to be doing real well.

Weekend Out

Tammy Childers had a weekend out with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, somewhere around Kannapolis. Dinner, shopping and the Breaking Dawn movie.

Reckless Driving

Well, we still have our race track. It’s called Lockhart Drive.

I swear that you cannot wait to get those little ones to school and out of your hair. I hope nothing jumps into the road and you slam on your brakes and flip your car or end up in a tree or someone’s house. That’s a terrible way to live your life, knowing you recklessly hurt your child in your car by driving too fast. Then you’ve got crazier people that might just pull out in front of you and pow!

I know you think it won’t ever happen to you, but why take the chance.

And the teenagers that just like the feel of wind in your hair, take it to the country where people don’t live. I don’t want to see you at Holcolmbe. There is nothing at the end of this road that is going anywhere, it will still be there at 25 mph. I know you don’t speed in Jonesville. So have the same respect for us, this is home.

Christmas Parade

And finally don’t forget our Christmas Parade on Dec. 2. at 3 p.m. And make a float!

Call me for details, or if you just want to be in the parade. Remember, no Santas, we’ve already made our reserves for Santa.

Trips To The Doctors’ Offices

I went to Dr. Wilkens office last week. Cindy’s as crazy as ever. She told me that she just about gave one of her patients a heart attack by making him laugh until he couldn’t stop, what is she going to do next? You know, Dr. Wilkins, Cindy’s got a long time to retirement, so beware.

Tommy asked me how my chiropractor visits were. Dr. Bridgett Sherman has cured me, and I really miss going to see her. I had a spur in my heel, and I made her really work on it hard, and it honestly doesn’t bother me at all. I really thought I was going to see about surgery on it, it hurt so bad. But it’s gone.

Then I hurt my leg muscles, and she got rid of that ache. For years I had a bulging disk, and had it worked everywhere (it kept coming back). And honest it never bothers me at all anymore. I really don’t know how she does it but she is good. Now if I get a migraine I will pay her a visit, because she cures that too.

Birthday

I see that Nov. 30 is Ann Sprouse’s birthday.

Doing Fine

I ran into B.J. at Wal Mart and she’s doing fine and happy on her own. And has a new grandchild. I wish her all the luck in the world.

Well, this is good night. Call me: 545-6652.
