UNION — It’s four more years in office for City of Union Mayor Harold Thompson.
Tuesday’s mayoral race pitted Thompson against Torance Inman, Union County Chamber of Commerce executive director, and Mike Stevens, former morning announcer and talk show host for WBCU radio.
Unofficial results show Thompson winning a second term with 1,835 votes to 867 for Stevens and 695 for Inman.
“It was a resounding victory for Harold and I sincerely congratulate him,” Stevens said Tuesday evening. “I would hope that the mayor would call on me to share some of my ideas concerning the future of the city. I can’t say that I’m not disappointed but I’m not unhappy at the outcome.”
Inman congratulated Thompson on his victory and pledged continued cooperation with him.
“First and foremost, congratulations to Mayor Thompson,” Inman said Tuesday evening. “We have worked together in the past and we will work together going forward. I will continue to support him as mayor and personally as we serve together to make Union a better place.”
Thompson thanked both the voters who supported him and those who didn’t.
“First of all, I want to thank the citizens who voted for me and those who didn’t I want to thank for participating in the process,” Thompson said. “The next four years we’re going to try to stay the course to make things better.”
