UNION — On Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, after an extended illness, Mrs. Rebecca Crompton Rector, 74, joined her heavenly Father.

Mrs. Rector was born in Union, Jan. 6, 1938, a daughter of the late Felix “F.A.” Crompton and Lillian Arrowwood Crompton. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing after 20 years service. Mrs. Rector attended the Union Church of God and was a devout Christian lady, an avid reader and well known for her exceptional kindness and sweet nature. She was previously married to the late Norman Rector.

Surviving is Weldon “Speedy” Thomas, father of her children, who are a daughter, Cindy Head and husband Robert of Union; three sons, Ricky Rector and wife Candy of Woodruff, Scott Rector of the home and John David Rector; nine grandchildren: Christina and Noelle Head, Joshua Hall, Jody, Amy and Vicky Rector, Tosha Pack, Christopher and Thomas Rector; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rector was predeceased by three brothers, James Greenway, Curtis and Kenneth Crompton; and infant grandson, Logan Mitchell Rector.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at Union Church of God conducted by Rev. Tommy Brown. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the services at the church.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Cindy and Robert Head, 685 Joe Walker Road, Union.
