12 Union County runners participate in second-annual iRecycle Half Marathon

The second annual iRecycle Half Marathon was held in Spartanburg Saturday, Oct. 9.

All proceeds from the event went towards scholarships given through the iRecycle program and community recycling and environmental efforts.

The 13.1 mile course was very hilly and the weather was warm.

Over 360 participants competed in two races held, 12 of the 360 runners were from Union County.

Robert Alexander, 1:35:24—26th place overall

Pete Cochran, 1:37:51—36th place overall

Brian Childers, 1:53:44—97th place overall

Shep Bevis, 1:54:09- 98th place overall

Maurice Bevis, 2:01:24—124th place overall, third place male 65-69

Stephanie Kitchens, 2:14:39—161st place overall

Gina Childers, 2:16:29—163rd place overall

Susan Cochran, 2:17:28—167th place overall

Jennifer Jansen, 2:39:30—195th place overall
