Irish William Jeter, 42, 115 New St., Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with trespassing after notice, assault of a high and aggravated nature and attempted murder.
The incident report states officers were dispatched Saturday morning to 110 New St. in reference to a stabbing.
When the officers arrived they found a black male, later identified as Jeter, in the front yard with a gray-colored knife in his hand. They ordered him to drop the knife and get on the ground. Jeter did as he was ordered and was then handcuffed and placed in a patrol car.
Officers entered the residence where they found a black male who the report states had been stabbed multiple times in the upper back and neck area. Union County EMS was called to the scene and confirmed the victim’s wounds. When EMS personnel removed the victim’s shirt, the report states they found he was stabbed at least four times with three wounds to upper back/shoulder area and one to the base of his neck.
A second victim was found to have been stabbed in the left forearm. Both victims were transported by EMS to the emergeny room at Wallace Thomson Hospital. An officer went to the hospital and questioned the second victim who said Jeter started stabbing the first victim. He said when he tried to get Jeter off the first victim Jeter cut him on his left arm.
After leaving the hospital and returning to the public safety department, the report states the officer learned Jeter was on trespassing notice for the Union Housing Authority which owns the residence at 110 New St.
A witness interviewed at the incident location said she and the victims were sitting around the table having a few drinks. The woman said Jeter was acting like a fool and she told him to go lie down in the bedroom. He did so but then got back up and told her he wanted to warm his hot dog. She said he went into the kichen and did so but while he was standing there he got a knife off the counter.
The witness said Jeter began running his mouth again and she told him he had to leave. She said she went to get his shoes so he could do so but on her way down the hall she heard something in the kitchen. The woman said she went back to the kitchen and saw Jeter stabbing the first victim. During the stabbing, she said the victim fell across the glass kitchen table causing it to shatter.
It was during this time the second victim attempted to stop Jeter and ended up getting stabbed. Both victims told police after the first victim was stabbed and lying on the floor, Jeter told him if he moved he was going to kill him. The second victim told Jeter he needed to back away from the first victim. He said when the police arrived Jeter ran out the front door.
The report states Jeter was uncooperative at the scene and at jail and didn’t want anyone touching him. The knife he is alleged to have used was taken as evidence along with photos of the victims’ wounds.
The victims were treated and released from the hospital.
