The Wolverines look to get on the right track tonight versus Newberry County rival Mid-Carolina.
Last year, Mid-Carolina defeated Whitmire 28-0, but the Wolverines will lean on quarterback Traccey Ruff.
Ruff had a stellar peformance last week vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta and the Wolverines need it again vs. the tougher 2A Mid-Carolina team.
Ruff led the team in passing and rushing vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta. Ruff threw for 47 yards and rushed for another 21 yards. The offense struggled last week gaining only 80 total yards. The Wolverines need more contributions, offensively.
On offense, Mid-Carolina runs a double-wing offense. Running back Clarence rushed for 736 yards in ’09 and returns as leader in the backfield. Defensive standout and linebacker Devin Holland will also see time at running back. Mid-Carolina has two returning offensive lineman and coach Alexander sees this group as the offensive leader.
“Our success is how well the offensive and defensive lines perform,” Alexander added.
