JONESVILLE — Plans for the first-ever Jonesville Community Fun Day — being organized by the Jonesville High School Alumni Association — are being finalized.

The alumni association is planning two days of activities next weekend, including a JHS reunion on Friday, July 30, and then the community fun day on Saturday, July 31.

The community event on Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with registration for activities. The rest of the day looks like this:

11-11:30 a.m.: Punt, Pass and Kick

11:30-noon: Egg Race

Noon-12:30 p.m.: Wheelbarrow Race

12:30-1 p.m.: Dizzy Bat

1-1:20 p.m.: Cha Cha Slide

1:30-2:30 p.m.: Alumni Football game (ages 18 and up)

2:30-3 p.m.: Cupid Shuffle

3-3:30 p.m.: Sack Race

3:30-4 p.m.: Relay Race

4-4:20 p.m.: Electric Slide

4:30-5:30 p.m.: Alumni Basketball game (ages 18 and up)

6 p.m.: Dedication event.

The alumni association — and organizers of the event — encourage everyone in Jonesville and beyond to come out for the fun day and reminds everyone to bring lawn chairs and that vendors will be set up at the former high school location where the event will take place.

The alumni association also is selling Alumni T-shirts and is encouraging everyone who plans to attend the community fun day to purchase one. Those who have purchased a T-shirt in advance of next Saturday’s event will get into the fun day free, otherwise there is a charge to attend.

Admission is free for children 3 years old and younger. For children 4-11 admission is $5 and $10 for people 12 years old and older.

T-shirts are on sale through Mark Sanders or at L&M Grocery in Jonesville.

All proceeds raised through the community fun day will be used to help supply the former JHS library with books and computers.

Watch The Union Daily Times next week for more information on this event.
