Bullet pierces business on US 176

A shot fired into a business on US 176 in the Jonesville area last Tuesday did $2,000 worth of damage.

The incident report filed with the Union County Sheriff’s Office states sometime between 5 p.m. last Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, someone fired a shot into the front glass of the building located at 3805 Furman Fendley Highway.

The bullet traveled through both panes of glass, across the office and lodged in the wall. The responding deputy retrieved the bullet and determined the shot was probably fired from the highway.

Car Scratched

Vandals did $1,000 worth of damage when they put scratches all over a green 1997 Toyota Camry and wrote an obscenity on the hood. The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. July 12 and 8:15 a.m. last Tuesday.

Another Car Scratched

The entire body of a 2004 Mercury SUV parked at 124 Mark St. was scratched by vandals sometime between 7 p.m. last Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Damage was estimated at $900.

Window Shot Out

A BB gun was the apparent weapon of choice of a vandal who did $600 worth of damage to a 1999 GMC pickup. The incident report states the back window was shot out sometime between 11 p.m. last Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday while the vehicle was parked at 211 Tempy Hill Road.

Pool Damaged

A woman heard a loud noise outside her home at 138 Lofton Drive around midnight July 12 and discovered the swimming pool in her front yard had been knocked over.

The incident report describes the pool as 20 feet in diameter and 48 inches deep and worth $500. The victim said it was not overfilled and that the rain should not have affected it.

Yet Another Car Scratched

A 2002 Toyota Camry was damaged to the tune of $400 by vandals who scratched its hood and trunk while it was parked at 124 Mark St. sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

One Dollar Bills Stolen

A burglar pocketed $334 in one dollar bills after climbing in an unlocked window at a residence at 255 Harris Lake Road. The incident report states the theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday. The victim said the thief stole a five-gallon clear water jug which contained the money.

Shotgun Stolen

A Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun worth $225 was the target of a thief or thieves who stole it from a car parked at a business on SC 215 in Buffalo sometime between July 1 and Wednesday.

Windows Broken

A vandal did $200 worth of damage when he busted out the windows of a vacant house at 221 Hancock St. early Friday morning.

Windshield Shattered

A pellet gun might have the weapon of choice of the vandal who shattered the rear windshield of a 1998 Toyota pickup while it was parked at 240 Mudbridge Road.

The incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. July 13 and 1 p.m. July 14. The incident report states the responding deputy observed what appeared to be a pellet hole through the window.

Damage is estimated at $100.

Plants Stolen

Six hanging baskets, each of them containing Wave Petunias in different colors, were stolen from the front porch of a residence at 4242 Lockhart Highway sometime between 9:30 a.m. Thursday just after 7 p.m. Friday.

The victim told the responding deputy this was the second time in a week someone had stolen her hanging baskets.

The baskets had a combined worth of $60.

Burglary

A Union couple was in the process of moving when they discovered someone had helped themselves to their property and that of their former landlord.

The incident report filed with the Union Public Safety Department states a public safety officer was dispatched Sunday morning to 714 N. Pinckney St. in reference to a larceny.

The victim told the officer he and his fiancee were moving and when they went back that morning to get some more of their belongings they found someone had taken his round kerosene heater ($180), his child’s jewelry ($200) and all of their pots and pans ($70). Also taken was the refrigerator ($670) which belonged to the landlord.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Broken Windshield

According to a report from the public safety department, a vandal apparently stood on the hood of a 1998 Honda and kicked in the windshield. The incident occurred sometime between 3-8:30 a.m. Wednesday while the vehicle was parked at 101 Horseshoe Circle.

The incident report states the responding public safety officer noticed a footprint on the hood suggesting someone had stood on it and kicked in the windshield.

Damage to the car was estimated at $200.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:

A 16-year-old girl charged Thursday with having no SC driver’s license and possession of a controlled substance.

Stephon Dangelo Tucker, 20, 315 N. Boyce St., Union, charged Saturday with driving under suspension first offense.

Loretta Lee Sims, 26, 115 New St. Union, charged Friday with seatbelt violation and driving under suspension second offense.

Thomas Jay Elston, 19, 231 Hancock St., Union, charged Saturday with driving without lights and driving under suspension.

Tyvin Marquis Jeter, 31, 205B Hillcrest Drive, Union, charged Saturday with driving under suspension second offense.

The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office:

Richard Dewayne Dimsdale, 38, 553 Lemonade Road, Pacolet, charged Friday with breach of peace.

Jerry Dajuan Delaney, 29, 115 Brockman Heights, Union, charged Saturday with open container and family court bench warrant.

Nikki Danielle Graham, 23, 209 Lakeview Heights, Union, charged Saturday with breach of peace.
