Mr. Hinkle was born in Indiana June 19, 1929, a son of the late James Hinkle Sr. and Mattie Douglass Hinkle Stede. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hinkle was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and retired from the Torrington Company.
Survivors are two daughters, Cheryl Hinkle Ward and husband Robert of Union, and Denise Hinkle Beard of GA; four sisters, Betty Krebs, Beverly McBeth, Phyliss Steele, all of Indiana, and Sharon Steele of Illinois; two brothers; Harry Hinkle and Donald Steele, both of Indiana; three grandchildren, Adam Ward and Alex Brown, both of Union. and Stephanie VanDyck of Mississippi.
Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Youth Worship Center of Mon Aetna Baptist Church located in the Christian Family Life Building conducted by Rev. Benny Green. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
