A Union man will spend nearly a decade in federal prison on gun and drug charges.

Ricky Maritique Rodgers was sentenced June 16 to 110 months in prison for possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon and 60 months for knowingly possessing with intent to distribute a quantity of marijuana.

The sentences will run concurrently with Rodgers given credit for time served. He was also ordered to pay a $200 assessment.

Rodgers, who pleaded guilty to the charges in April, was arrested in May 2009 when the Union County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant on his residence at 242 Vaughan Road.

At the time of his arrest, Rodgers faced additional charges including possession of stolen property, possession of ball tickets, possession of drug paraphernalia and littering. He was later charged with threatening a witness.

These charges were dropped as part of his plea agreement.
