A woman who allegedly asked a deputy to help her set a man’s clothes on fire ended up in jail Monday night.

Angela Lawson Ivey, 49, 1348 Peach Orchard Road, Union, is charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report states a deputy was dispatched Monday afternoon to Ivey’s residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. When he arrived, the deputy was told by the victim that Ivey was irate with him over relationship problems. The victim said when he came home Ivey came out of the house and jumped on him, scratching him on the right arm and pulling his shirt until they both fell on the ground. Ivey had an abrasion on her back consistent with falling to the ground on the stepping stones in the front yard.

The report states the deputy had responded to the same location an hour earlier. It describes Ivey as extremely upset about her relationship with the victim and was crying and yelling uncontrollably. Ivey, the report states, wanted the deputy to help her set the victim’s clothes on fire. The deputy, however, told her what the consequences would be if she did so and left the scene.

Ivey was arrested for criminal domestic violence and transported to the Union County Jail.
