The Lockhart-based RiverRats won the Upper State Championship after handing the Laurens Lightning a 6-3 loss on Sunday in Easley.

On Saturday, the RiverRats defeated the Carolina Devils 9-3. The Lockhart team then lost 6-2 to the Carolina Lightning.

Despite the loss, the RiverRats went on to destroy the Carolina Blaze 15-1 on Sunday before defeating the Laurens Lightning in the championship game.

The RiverRats, who are coming off a runner-up performance in the Sparkle City Slug Fest Tournament earlier this month will compete in the 2010 Global World Series this July in Charleston.
