Union man arrested on sexual assault charges

A Union man was arrested late last week after allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Jonathan Maurice Collins, 18, 113 Windy Hill Road, Union, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with criminal sexual conduct.

The warrant for Collins’ arrest states that on June 9 he engaged in sexual battery with a 14-year-old girl. The incident report states the victim told the responding officer she received a call from Collins who said he owed her brother some money. Collins then showed up at her residence and let himself in. The girl said they were watching TV on the couch when Collins put his hands down her pants. She said she got off the couch but that at some point in time Collins then pushed her down onto a bed and sexually assaulted her.

The report states the victim was transported by a cousin to Wallace Thomson Hospital where a sexual assault kit was given. Collins was taken into custody on Friday.

Breach Of Trust With Fraudulent Intent

A Union woman is being charged with stealing more than $5,000 from a local business over a five-month period.

Calandra Nicole Brandon, 25, 437 Pineneedle Road, Union, is charged by the public safety department with breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

The warrant for Brandon’s arrest states that while employed as a cashier she stole money from the cash register through fraudulent refunds. It states the thefts occurred between Jan. 1-May 24 of this year. The amount stolen totals $5,325.

Brandon was taken into custody Monday morning.

Incidents

The following incidents are being investigated by the Union County Sheriff's Office:

Copper Theft

Someone went behind a rental property at 132 D Place, Union, and took the copper out of a heat pump. The incident report states the victim estimated the damage at $2,100. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 8 a.m. May 28 nd 8 a.m. Saturday.

Identity Theft

A Union man canceled his debit card Friday but not before somebody had used its information to take $916.10 out of his account. The victim reported the theft to the sheriff's office the same day he learned of it when he saw transactions on his bank statement he didn't make. The theft of the funds occurred between May 26-June 4.

Car Vandalized

Someone came into the yard of a residence at 203 Harris St., Jonesville, sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday and busted out the window of a light brown 1999 Chevy Suburban causing $500 worth of damage.

Vandalism

An apparent attempt to hit a hornet’s nest with rocks resulted in a window being busted out at a residence at 209 Louise St. The victim said when he came home he discovered someone had thrown two rocks through his window. He said there was a hornet’s nest on the window and it appeared someone was throwing rocks at the nest and hit the window instead. Damage was estimated at $50.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:

DeAnte Markeise Jeter, 17, 102 Horseshoe Circle, Union, charged Sunday with disorderly conduct.

James Scott Willard, 38, 950 Meansville Road, Union, charged Friday with driving under suspension.

A 16-year-old juvenile charged Monday with disorderly conduct.
