Two more arrests were made over the weekend as part of the Summer Slam II anti-drug sweep.

The latest to be arrested are:

Ernest Woods, 29, 932 Lovers Lane Road, Union, charged with distribution of crack cocaine.

April Michelle Varnadore, 36, 180 Riley Road, Union, charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.

The arrests bring the number of persons arrested as part of the operation to more than 40. Summer Slam II is part of a long-term strategy by the Union County Sheriff's Office and Union Public Safety Department to, with the assistance of SLED, dismantle the drug trade in the county. The operation, which got under way Wednesday morning, is designed to increase the number of charges against those arrested to the point where they are faced with the choice of either cooperating with authorities against the financiers and suppliers of the local drug trade or serving long prison sentences.
