Since it began Wednesday morning, a total of 39 people have been arrested on drug-related or other charges by The Union County Sheriff’s Office and/or The Union Public Safety Department. Summer Slam II is part of a long-term strategy by the sheriff’s office and public saftey department with the assistanc of SLED to dismantle the drug trade in Union County.
In a Wednesday afternoon press conference announcing the operation, Sheriff David Taylor said law enforcment’s ultimate target are financiers and suppliers of the local drug trade. Taylor said the arrests are aimed at building the criminal records of those taken into custody to the point where they will have to either provide information about the higher-ups or face serious time in prison.
Those most recently arrested on county charges stemming from Summer Slam II include:
Kevin Todd Smith, 22, 133 Baber St., Union, charged with possesson of marijuana other than first offense.
Joshua Keith Price, 21, 237 Old Buncombe Road, Union, charged with possession of marijuana other than first offense.
Jessie Lee Rice, 22, 107 Hamlet St., Union, charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana.
Those most recently arrested on city charges stemming from Summer Slam II are:
Melissa Florice Trammell, 34, 288 Sonoco Road, Union, charged with distribution of crack cocaine and distribubtion of crack cocaine within a half-mile of a park.

Tammy Renee Dickard, 40, 109 Hayes Drive, Union, charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct.
Leon Lamorris Glenn, 50, 203 Wilbur St., Union, charged Thursday with failure to register as a sex offender more than first offense.
Phillip Maurice Lawson, 25, 149 Porter St., Union, charged Wednesday with public drunk.
Charles Allen Vaughan, 49, 306 Railroad St., Union, charged Thursday with breach of peace.
Mickey Ray Wilson, 40, 210 Bobo St., Union, charged Thursday with breach of peace.
Linda Sue Russell, 47, 228 Bobo St., Union, charged Thursday with breach of peace.
Bobby Joe Millwood, 62, 400 Greene St., Union, charged Friday with driving under the influence.
