The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of property crimes involving the vandalism of vehicles, break-ins and even theft of a leaf blower.

Malicious Damage

A man parked his car at 180 Ma’s Road around 6 p.m. 180 Ma’s Road and when he went back to the vehicle around 10 p.m. he disovered someone had scratched both sides and the front hood. Damage to the black 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport is estimated at $1,000.

Water Heater/Electric Wire Stolen

Sometime between between midnight and 2 p.m. Tuesday thieves cut all the electric wire from under a vacant house at 321 Osborne St., and stole it along with a 40-gallon gas hot water heater. The wire is valued at $500 and the water heater at $300.

Vandalism

A man went out to his car Tuesday morning and discovered someone had scratched the passenger side and rear bumper of his car. The victim told the responding deputy there were no scratches on his car when he parked it in his driveway at 2319 Lockhart Highway around 7:30 p.m. the previous evening. He disovered the damage around 7 a.m. the next day. Damage to the vehicle, a black 2007 Chrysler 300 is estimated at $300.

Attempted Burglary

Two males who may have been involved in attempted burglary that resulted $200 worth of damage to a business at 1018 Jonesville Highway are being sought by the sheriff’s office. The report states the complainant said she saw two males walk up SC 18 into the business’ parking lot. She said she then heard a noise and called 911 to report the break-in. The deputy observed a glass window broken out beside the front door and parts of a broken brick and street light globe laying by the door.

Leaf Blower Stolen

Keys left in the car apparently made it easier for a thief to make off with a leaf blower. The incident report states the victim told the responding deputy sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday someone rambled throughout his car as it was parked at 4082 Santuc-Carlise Highway. The keys were in the vehicle, a 1990 Oldsmobile 88, and the thief was able to open the trunk where the leaf blower was. The leaf blower is a orange and black Black & Decker valued at $80.

Attempted Break-In

Someone tried to force their way into a woman’s home at 144 Haney Road, Buffalo, Tuesday afternoon but was unsuccessul. The woman told the resonding deptuty she left her home around 11 a.m. and when she returned around 5 p.m. she discovered someone had used what appeared to be a sharp object to force open her back door. The report states there were unknown tool marks around the door’s locks. Nothing was missing from the building, however, and the victim said she didn’t believe anyone got inside.
